Roy Hawk Takes Over Day Two Lead a 2025 WON Bass Lake Havasu Open

Justin Kerr Moves to Second, Day one Leader Ian Boehm in Third

Lake Havasu City, Ariz. – May 8, 2025 –– Lake Havasu turned into Lake Havasu today – more specifically, the weather became more like what the desert is known for.  That made for an interesting day for the 143 pro and AAA anglers that headed out onto the waters of Lake Havasu for the second day of the 2025 Ranger Boats WON Bass Lake Havasu Open presented by Mercury.

The final standings on day two looked like one would expect with two local legends at the top of the leaderboard with a chance to win the 2025 Ranger Boats / Mercury Motor prize boat provided by Bass Pro Shops.  Lake Havasu City, Ariz. pro Roy Hawk took the day two lead of the event with a limit weighing 19.13 pounds to push his total weight to 36.86 pounds.  He was followed in second by fellow Lake Havasu City, Arz. Pro Justin Kerr, who bagged 17.64 pounds to place second with 35.78.

Both anglers said that the lake had toughened up on day two as a result of the warm, slick conditions that arrived in the area following the storms that bombarded the area during practice.

For example, day one leader Ian Boehm from Desert City, Ariz. struggled to back up his big day one and fell to third place after posting 13.31 pounds to total 35.74 pounds.  Shane Edgar of Glendale, Ariz. placed fourth for the day with a total weight of 34.03 pounds and Kyle Grover of Rancho Santa Margarita, Calif. rounded out the top five on the pro side with 33.55 pounds.

Hawk reported that his day did not produce the quantity of day one, but his overall fish were better.  “I had almost 18 pounds yesterday and had one fish over four pounds,” he said.  “I had over 19 pounds today, and didn’t have one that topped four pounds.”

He said that he is running around throwing crankbaits like he is known for.  “I’ve caught all but one of my weigh fish on a crankbait, and I caught that one on an old Roboworm Zipper Worm,” he said.  “It chased my crankbait and I casted the worm as a follow up bait.

“I feel good about tomorrow, but I’ve got one of my best friends right behind me and he knows the lake really well too; anything can happen and I’ll be happy if either one of us wins.”

By contrast, Kerr said that he feels things have to go perfect for him to win.  “I think it’s going to get tougher, and I lost the two quality bites I got today, so I will have to have things go just right tomorrow to pull it off,” he said.  “I know what Roy is doing and he’s really good at it, and is going to be tough to beat, but I’m going to really give it my all.”

David Shearrer of Trabuco Canyon, Calif grabbed the day two lead in the AAA Division with 40.03 pounds.  He is followed in second place by AAA Craig Paclik of North Las Vegas, Nev. with 39.94 pounds.  Third place for the day in the AAA field went to Eddy Gorham of Vista, Calif. with 34.10 pounds.  Mike Walsh of El Cajon, Calif. stands third with 33.37 pounds while William Penrod of Salome, Ariz. rounded out the top five with 32.83 pounds.

The final day begins tomorrow from Riviera Marina at safe light.

The winner of the 2025 Ranger Boats WON Bass Lake Havasu Open presented by Mercury, will earn the Ranger Boats / Mercury Motor prize boat provided by Bass Pro Shops.

Each of the pros and AAA anglers who finish in the top five will also earn a Golden Ticket berth into the 2026 Bassmaster B.A.S.S. Nation Championship for a chance to qualify for the Bassmaster Classic

The daily livestream of the weigh-ins aired on the WON Bass Facebook page, located at  Facebook.com/WONBassTournaments.
